What is "Barre"?

Barre workouts are a fusion of yoga, Pilates, strength training, and ballet. Barre classes incorporate specific sequencing patterns and isometric movements that target specific muscle groups. This pattern of exercise helps to improve strength, balance, flexibility and posture.

Why should I take a Barre Class?

​Barre is hot right now! Barre classes are low-impact and are conducive to all fitness levels. They are enjoyed by everyone since they incorporate graceful movements and elements of ballet, allowing participants to experience a dance "element" in the workouts and achieve a dancer’s body.

Who should take a Barre Class?
Adults who want to see improvement in their posture, balance, strength, and flexibility. Barre workouts are perfect for all fitness levels, so even if you can't do a push up you can still do Barre!  Also, Barre is for boys and girls... not just for girls!
How often should I take a Barre Class?
Barre can be intense... you want to see results but consider your safety.  While it is most important to listen to your body and give your muscles enough rest, typically 3 times a week will generate the most fitness results. You should always consult your physician to determine what is a "safe" amount of exercise.

Virtual Barre Classes:
Currently I'm only teaching Barre in person at In-Shape Riverlakes, membership required. This class is Thursdays 6:45-7:45pm. Bring a yoga mat if you have one!
